Inver specialises in the repair, overhaul and rewinding of electric motors, including AC and DC traction motors, motor alternators, main generators and other auxiliary equipment.

Inver’s electric motor repair division can provide you with service and maintenance expertise across four main areas.  

1. Electric motors

Inver specialises in the overhaul, repair and testing of AC & DC traction motors, motor alternators, and main generators, along with repair and rewind of armatures and stators for all makes and models of motors on passenger trains, trams and locomotives.

Expertly overhauled electric motors can save operators significant life cycle costs, and Inver offers extensive overhaul and maintenance services with comprehensive warranties to support our work.

MOTOR SERVICING

  • Standard overhaul and repairs
  • Rewinding armatures and stators
  • New shafts and related components
  • New field and interpole coils
  • Repair and requalification of motor frame

REWIND OF ARMATURES & STATORS 
At Inver we have the in-house capacity to rewind armatures and stators. Inver has rewound thousands of motors over the last 30 years giving us an exceptional level of knowledge of the intricacies of rewinding many different types of motors. 

2. Auxilary equipment

Overhaul and / or rewind of auxiliary equipment such as radiator fan sets and auxiliary generators along with brake resistors, master controllers, linear actuators and more.

3. UTEX / Service exchange

UTEX / Service exchange on locomotive traction motors on a one-for-one basis creating an extremely quick turnaround and reduced locomotive downtime.

4. Reverse engineering

Inver’s in-house engineering team has a significant level of reverse engineering experience, all undertaken to strict ISO9001:2015 requirements. This can significantly assist customers in managing parts obsolescence in trains and trams when OEM support is no longer available.
